Roger Ely, P.E.Senior Engineer, Georgia Power
Roger Ely supports Transmission Maintenance Centers statewide within Power Delivery at Georgia Power, specializing in condition-based maintenance for substations. He began his career in 1984 as a co-op student in Power Generation and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University.
Roger has held multiple engineering roles across Power Delivery, including Protection & Control Substation Test Engineer, Distribution Reliability Engineer, and Distribution Engineering Supervisor. In 2019, he returned to Transmission, as a Transmission Substation Support Engineer, helping implement condition based maintenance and supporting Transmission Maintenance Centers across the state.
He has been a licensed Professional Engineer in Georgia since 1993 and brings over four decades of experience in utility operations, system coordination, and engineering leadership.
