John Hughes is a Senior Engineer who holds a B.S. in Electrical Computer Engineering with an emphasis in software and automation. He worked in the automation and controls industry prior to joining Southern Company Services. While at SCS, he has worked for 7 years in Electrical Field Services, 6 years in generation relaying and protection, and currently is working in the electrical studies department within T&PS - Electrical Systems in power systems analysis. Major projects have included municipal water treatment facilities across the United States and internationally, automation and controls in the manufacturing sector, generation regulatory compliance, hydro-generation, fossil fuel generation, new generation, and auxiliary systems that support generation. John has also affiliated his skills with a non-profit organization (DFH) that uses engineering processes to assist developing countries internationally. He is supported in his endeavors by his wife and eight children.
