Ian Mylenbusch serves as Principal Supervisor in Environmental Solutions for Technical Shared Services. He has more than 20 years of experience related to compliance with environmental and safety regulations for electric generating utilities, chemical plants, liquefied natural gas plants, and natural gas storage. His areas of expertise include environmental controls, chemical systems, and process safety.
Ian sits on the NFPA 2 code committee representing the Edison Electric Institute’s Loss Control and Fire Protection Task Force. Ian also serves as the Committee Chairman for the Generation Networking Group PSM Committee. He sits on the Technical Steering Committee for the Center for Chemical Process Safety, the AIChE Global Congress on Process Safety Planning Committee , the Center for Hydrogen Safety's Culture Subcommittee, and the Reinhold Environmental Pollution Control Users Group Steering Committee. Prior to joining Southern Company in 2006, Ian was employed at DuPont chemical company for six years, where he worked on filtration systems, wastewater treatment, and deep well injection. Ian earned his Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. He holds a B.S. degree in Environmental Science from Midwestern State University, an MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi, and is expected to graduate with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in May 2026.
