Ian Mylenbusch serves as Principal Supervisor in Environmental Solutions for the Southern Company Services Technical Shared Services organization. He has more than 20 years of experience related to compliance with environmental and safety regulations for electric generating utilities, chemical plants, liquefied natural gas plants, and natural gas storage. His areas of expertise include environmental controls, chemical systems, and process safety.
Ian is a principal member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Code Committee for NFPA 2: Hydrogen Technologies, representing the Edison Electric Institute’s (EEI) Loss Control and Fire Protection Task Force. Ian serves as the Committee Chairman for the Generation Networking Group (GNG) PSM Committee. Ian is a member of the Technical Steering Committee for the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Global Congress on Process Safety (GCPS) Planning Committee , Center for Hydrogen Safety (CHS) Hydrogen Safety Culture Subcommittee, and the Reinhold Environmental Pollution Control Users Group (PCUG) Steering Committee. Prior to joining Southern Company in 2006, Ian was employed at DuPont chemical company for six years, where he worked on filtration systems, wastewater treatment, and deep well injection. Ian holds a B.S. degree in Environmental Science from Midwestern State University, an MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi, and is expected to graduate with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in May 2026. Ian also holds a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
