Josh Barron is a research engineer in the Generating Fleet research group. He started full time in R&D in 2012. Throughout that time, he has managed research projects that cover a wide variety of generation assets including combustion turbines, HRSGs, cooling systems, and bulk energy storage equipment.
His current responsibilities include supporting and managing research for the natural gas combined cycle fleet, advanced cycles, and bulk energy storage. He also manages Southern Company’s interests in EPRI Programs 216, 217, and 221 as well as CEATI’s Thermal Generation Interest Group. Josh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.
