Neil Marbut has worked 33 years in the substation arena; 9 years as a transformer design engineer with GE and 24 years in Substation Maintenance, Design, and Protection & Control with Alabama Power. Neil presently works in a corporate role as a Manager in Alabama Power’s Power Delivery Engineering Services organization. His primary roles are to develop and implement Substation Maintenance Practices, Capital Improvements, Design Standards, Safe Work Practices, and Technology Advancements for 1300 substations across Alabama Power service territory. He is the sponsor of the Southern Company Transmission Substation Maintenance Standards Committee and a member of the Substation Design Standards Committee and the Substation Physical Security Committee. Neil holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Alabama.
