In his role as PMO Supervisor, Orlando provides assistance to project teams on T&PS-managed projects being performed for Generating facilities. This support includes assisting project teams with compliance to the five phased, gated Project Delivery Process used for T&PS-managed projects, working with project teams to identify and address bottlenecks in the process and facilitating discussions on best practices, lessons learned and process/procedure updates. In addition, Orlando provides Project Delivery Process training opportunities for project team members as well as Project Management Professional Exam Prep training opportunities for persons wishing to pursue their certification.
Orlando received his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Alabama. He has 20+ years of experience with Southern Company; spending half of his career in Generation in various Team Leader roles prior to joining T&PS as a Project Engineer. As a Project Engineer, Orlando provided project management support to generating facilities throughout the southeast as well as in North Carolina, Minnesota and Texas. It was also in this role that he pursued and received his PMP certification. Orlando also served in the Retrofit Project Engineer Supervisor role prior to joining the Project Management Office.
