Rob Canning leads the I&C Support organization for Southern Company. He leads the I&C team in plant instrumentation and controls design, field support services, and cybersecurity strategy for the Southern Company generating fleet.

Rob began his career with Southern Company in 2013 as a Senior Controls Engineer in T&PS Technical Services. He supported Plant Ratcliffe commissioning and several turbine control system retrofit projects. Rob joined Southern Power in 2015 as I&C Team Leader at Plant Rowan and progressed to O&M Manager. While at Plant Rowan, he was a lead for the I&C Operations Review Board for initiatives across SPC.

Before joining Southern Company, Rob worked at Siemens Energy as a combined cycle Commissioning Manager. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maine and an active member of the International Society of Automation (ISA). Rob is a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy with a degree in power engineering technology.
