Steven L. Ford is a licensed Attorney with the Alabama State Bar who currently serves in the Compliance & Support Manager role supporting Plant Barry, a power generation facility near Mobile, AL. Steven’s career in power generation spans over 25 years working in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama, serving in leadership roles in plant engineering, planning, operations, and maintenance. As a leader in generation, Steven leverages his cross-company experience as an engineer, departmental, and plant manager in the natural gas and steam power generation industry to create business value.
Steven brings a unique perspective with his formal education in law, engineering, and business management to find practical solutions and look for business opportunities. He is passionate about serving the customers in his community and believes in using emerging technology to lower operating costs, improve communication, and further leverage technology integration. Currently, he is the chair of the Southern Company Technology Leadership Team (TLT) which seeks to evaluate and integrate powerful technologies across the generating fleet. Steven works to help develop others across a broad range of skills and accelerate their career impact. Steven is a recognized presenter at the Connected Plant Conference and Southern Company Technical Conference discussing new technology, the human side of digital adoption, and improvements in facility management.
Steven received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a master’s in business administration concentrating in finance from Georgia State University, and a Juris Doctorate from the Birmingham School of Law. Steven is a member of the Baldwin County Bar Association & the Alabama State Bar Association.
