Yong is a registered Professional Engineer with 16 years of design experience and 7-year research experience. Yong joined Southern Company in 2016 in transmission civil group and has focused on structural design and foundation design of substation structures and transmission line structures. Yong helps to develop standard drawings and trains young engineers. Yong also serves ASCE Design of Overhead Line and Substation Foundation subcommittee. Prior to joining the Southern Company, Yong worked as a structural engineer designing steel structures and concrete structures. Yong received his bachelor’s degree from Tongji University and master’s degree from Tsinghua University in China. Yong earned master’s degree and doctorate degree from the University of Arizona.
