Paul Hayes is a North Carolina State University graduate with a BS in Civil Engineering. Paul is a Civil and Fire Protection Engineer in over 35 states. He has 30+ years of principal engineer experience managing special hazards asset protection fire companies for the industrial and power markets. Paul has a focused interest in leading-edge design & development of detection and suppression systems for Lithium-Ion battery facilities. In addition, he has extensive federal, state, and local laws and regulations experience and regulatory agency negotiations.
Using his code committee and code development experience, Paul has been comprehensive support in NFPA 855. He is task chair for the rewrite of suppression and explosion technologies for Lithium-Ion ESS for 855. Paul is a consultant to ESS companies and Utilities with appropriate mitigation technologies, risk hazard evaluation and application, AHJ education, and design specifications to help define best practices for the industry. His industry engagements include NFPA 855 and NFPA 850 Principal Member, Professional Member SFPE, FSSA Board of Directors, EEI board of Directors, ESA Board of Directors, Member of EPRI Safety Council, SME FDNY, UL 9540A STP.
