Joel Leopard has appx 13 years of experience in the nuclear industry working in the areas of external and internal communications within the public electric utility and government nuclear energy fields. He began his career with Shaw AREVA MOX Services, the prime contractor to the National Nuclear Security Administration, and worked at the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility project for 6 years at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina.

Joel joined Southern Nuclear at Plant Vogtle in 2013 where he serves as a Communications Coordinator focused on external communications for the existing Vogtle 1&2 units and for the Vogtle 3&4 units under construction. He manages the Vogtle Energy Education Center (with his colleague Mike McCracken) where he provides public relations and education leadership and support on behalf of Southern Nuclear, Georgia Power and the plant’s co-owners. He is also involved with video, photo and graphic design production, emergency preparedness communications, and employee communications.
