Zeke Smith is Alabama Power’s executive vice president of External Affairs. With more than 35 years of service with the company, Smith has responsibilities for Environmental Affairs, Charitable Giving, Corporate Affairs, Governmental Relations, Public Relations, and Regulatory Affairs. He serves as chairman of the Alabama Power Foundation’s Board of Directors. Prior to his present position, Smith served as vice president of Financial and Regulatory Planning, vice president of Regulatory Services, and director of Regulatory and Pricing.

Smith graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Samford University.

Smith serves on the Samford University Board of Trustees, the Business Council of Alabama Board of Directors, the Birmingham Business Alliance Board of Directors, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors, the Bryant Jordon Board of Directors, the Alabama Governor’s Labor-Management Conference Board ofDirectors, the Charles D. McCrary Institute Advisory Council, the Auburn Engineering Alumni Council, and on the Birmingham Bowl Executive Committee.

He is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Alabama and in 2019 was inducted into the Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame.

Smith has been appointed to the state's College and Career Ready Task Force, the Tornado Recovery Action Council of Alabama, and served as chair of the Alabama Workforce Council appointed by the Governor. He has served as Alabama Power’s chairman and executive sponsor of various campaigns including: United Way, the American Heart Association, and the Boy Scouts of America.

Smith and his wife, Darlene, have three children: Drew, Heather, and Lindsey and four grandchildren.
