Roger Ely supports Transmission Maintenance Centers statewide in Power Delivery for Georgia Power with a focus on conditioned based maintenance for substations. He began his career at Georgia Power as a co-op student in Power Generation in 1984. After graduating from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering he joined Power Delivery at Georgia Power and worked as a P&C Substation Test Engineer until 1997. He transitioned to a Distribution Reliability Engineer role in 1997 with a focus on system coordination and improvements for worse performing circuits. In 2002 Roger became Distribution Engineering Supervisor for the Macon Georgia Area. In 2019 he moved back to Transmission in the Substation Maintenance area where he transitioned to his current role in Transmission Substation Support. Roger is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Georgia since 1993.
