Michael Smith is the manager of System Integrity at Virginia Natural Gas (VNG). In his role, he is responsible for the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP) and Corrosion Control. Michael joined the company from the Virginia State Corporation Commission in 2017. Since that time, he has held positions of increasing responsibility including natural disaster response. In his most recent role, Michael has led VNG in implementing drone technology for operation and maintenance inspections.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech. Currently he is earning his MBA at Virginia Commonwealth University and recently obtained his Professional Engineer (PE) license.
