My dad (who passed 3 years ago at the age of 92) had a lot of stories and pictures to share - he was part of the landing at Normandy on the coast of France back in WWII. The thing that stood out most to me was the idea of "true military families". Their troop had a reunion every year - my Dad happened to be one of only 4 left alive when the last meeting was held....he and my Mom so looked forward to that every year.

My ex (of 25 years) was also in the service....the Army National Guard. He was deployed to the gulf war for almost 11 months back in 1990-91. They were a supply unit so not in the throws of the fighting but it was still very emotional to deal with. The fact that he was Captain in charge of the group made me the troop family liason. I had never thought about all the disruption and issues that can come up for families until put in that position and the reason I bring it up is to recognize and commend all the families for their bravery because it is hard to be the one state side dealing with everything. I honor and celebrate not only the vets but their families!!!!!!

Thank you for your hard work and dedication to serving in the United States military. As a veteran myself, I know of the selfless acts of giving that military members provide. Each and every day I am grateful for what the military has taught me and appreciate the efforts the current military provide to myself and my family. Thank you again for serving and of the time away from your friends and family each day you serve. Thank you!

Because of what you do,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for serving our country and for keeping me and my family safe.

Although we have never met one another, I know your job is more important than mine because you are responsible for the well-being of many more people than I am and your risks are far greater.

As a descendant of a WWII veteran, (my father; Peter T. Koval, PFC - Army and Normandy Invasion survivor), I have the utmost respect for you and whatever part you play in the United States Military.

For the past 10.5 years I have been an active SAL member of the American Legion Post 216, Austell, GA. and have either served as the squadron Junior or Senior Vice Commander for the last consecutive 8.5 years. As an active part of the American Legion, the "Sons" main mission is to support and assist the Post in their efforts to help the general community charities and Military Vets, monetarily and through active community participation. In this way, we honor you and those that served before you.

With greatest admiration and respect,
D. Travis Koval

My grandfather was a Marine in the Pacific during WWII. At 95 he continues to emphasize the value of family and hard work which has been engrained in me since a young age. He has taught me the importance of reputation and commitment. Thanks to each one of our veterans who put their lives on the line thanklessly each day so we may maintain our lives and practice our freedom as we choose!

Thank you to all the current members of the military and veterans for all the sacrifices you made to keep our families and our country free. I am very proud of my Dad, J. D. Bishop, who served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds he received there. He is 91 years old and still going strong. I am also proud of my uncles and cousins who served in various branches of the military. We owe each service member and veteran a debt that we can never repay. God bless you all.
