Just before my father's career in the energy industry began, he was drafted to serve in Korean Conflict in the early 1950's. While he did not see combat, he served our country through the U.S. Army Chemical Corps developing products and gear focused on safety, many of which are patented by the U.S. Government and some are still in use today. While this was not how he saw his career beginning, serving our country provided him a unique perspective and sense of discipline that served him well in his 40 year career in the natural gas industry. While he is no longer with us, the many stories he would share with me about this brief period in his life have given me a great appreciation for those who continue to serve our country today. While I did not have the privilege of service, I am so grateful to the many of you have served and for those who still defend our freedoms. Thank you to all.

A simple "thank you" must sound quite hollow and not very heart felt to someone who has been through battle and seen some of the worst that humanity has to offer.
It's an awkward feeling for someone like myself, who has never served in the military. I don't feel worthy of even saying the words "thank you" to a man or woman who would put their life on hold let alone in jeopardy so that I can enjoy the fruits of their sacrifice. I dare not say that "I understand what you've been through" or "that must have been tough" because I/we really have no idea.
So this Veteran's Day I'll just fly Old Glory and let her speak for me.
